Elton Vineyard, Eola-Amity Hills

In 2007, Elton Vineyard was named one of Oregon’s top ten vineyards by Wine Press Northwest, and in 2006 Wine & Spirits listed it as one of the five key vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills American Viticultural Area. Owned by Dick and Betty O'Brien, the vineyard was planted on land inherited from Betty’s parents, Elton and Peggy Ingram — hence the name Elton Vineyard and the address on Ingram Lane.

The first acres of chardonnay grapes were planted in 1993 by the O’Briens. The vineyard now includes more than 60 acres of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir planted on east-southeast slopes of the Eola Hills, just west of Hopewell, in Yamhill County. The elevation rises from 250-750 feet, and the vineyard soil is primarily Jory and Nekia. Chardonnay clones are primarily 76 and 96/3309. The vineyard is planted to a density of 12 x 6 with north/south row orientation. Karta Wines is excited to be sourcing 2 tons of Chardonnay grapes from Elton Vineyard for the 2020 vintage.

Looney Vineyard

Looney Vineyard, Ribbon Ridge

First planted in 2000 by Ed and Darlene Looney, the beautiful Looney Vineyard is located in the heart of the acclaimed Ribbon Ridge AVA. The vineyard is southeast facing with marine sedimentary soils. Karta Wines is proud to source two different clones (113 and 777) of Pinot Noir from this esteemed site in one of Oregon’s prime growing regions.

Les Collines Vineyard, Walla Walla Valley

Les Collines Vineyard occupies approximately 290 acres in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, 5 miles southeast of Walla Walla, WA. Situated on a broad, generally west-sloping ridge, the southern boundary of the vineyard coincides with the border between Oregon and Washington. Les Collines is well-situated for viticulture. Its elevated foothills location provides protection from late spring and early fall frost pressure.
Karta Syrah is Phelps Clone, from Block 50, one of the most coveted blocks in the vineyard.
